What does a low haemoglobin mean on a CBC?+
Low haemoglobin usually points to anaemia, which has many causes — iron deficiency is the most common in India, but B12/folate deficiency, chronic disease, and blood loss also cause it. The CBC indices (MCV, MCH) help narrow the cause; your doctor may order iron studies or vitamin levels.
What does a high WBC count indicate?+
A raised white blood cell count most often reflects infection or inflammation, but can also follow stress, steroids, or (less commonly) blood disorders. The differential count (neutrophils, lymphocytes, etc.) helps tell a bacterial from a viral cause.
Are low platelets dangerous?+
Mildly low platelets are often harmless, but very low counts raise bleeding risk and need urgent review — especially with fever (think dengue in India) or bruising. Discuss any low platelet result with a doctor promptly.
