CBC (Complete Blood Count) Report Interpreter

A complete blood count (CBC) measures haemoglobin, red and white blood cells, and platelets — the most common blood test. Enter your values to understand each marker and see which are outside the typical range. Common reference values: haemoglobin 13–17 g/dL (men) / 12–15 g/dL (women), total WBC 4,000–11,000/µL, platelets 1.5–4.1 lakh/µL. Your own report's range takes priority.

Frequently asked questions

What does a low haemoglobin mean on a CBC?+

Low haemoglobin usually points to anaemia, which has many causes — iron deficiency is the most common in India, but B12/folate deficiency, chronic disease, and blood loss also cause it. The CBC indices (MCV, MCH) help narrow the cause; your doctor may order iron studies or vitamin levels.

What does a high WBC count indicate?+

A raised white blood cell count most often reflects infection or inflammation, but can also follow stress, steroids, or (less commonly) blood disorders. The differential count (neutrophils, lymphocytes, etc.) helps tell a bacterial from a viral cause.

Are low platelets dangerous?+

Mildly low platelets are often harmless, but very low counts raise bleeding risk and need urgent review — especially with fever (think dengue in India) or bruising. Discuss any low platelet result with a doctor promptly.

How does the blood test interpreter work?+

Enter the values from your lab report and the tool explains what each marker means in plain language, flags which results are outside the typical reference range, and suggests questions to ask your doctor. It is an educational aid, not a diagnosis.

Are these reference ranges accurate for India?+

The ranges shown are typical adult values, but every lab prints its own reference range on your report — and ranges differ by age, sex, pregnancy and testing method. Always read your result against the range printed on your own report.

Can I rely on this instead of seeing a doctor?+

No. The interpreter helps you understand your report, but blood results must be read alongside your symptoms, history and examination. An abnormal value is not automatically a diagnosis, and a normal panel doesn't rule everything out. Always confirm with a doctor.

Can I book the test or a doctor through PingMeDoc?+

Yes. You can book lab tests with free home sample collection and consult a doctor online through PingMeDoc to review your report and plan next steps.
