Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine that enhances the effect of GABA, a calming neurotransmitter in the brain. This reduces excessive nerve activity, producing anxiolytic and sedative effects.
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Do not increase dose, take more frequently, or stop suddenly without medical advice.
Common side effects of Anxit 0.5 Tablet may include:
May cause sedation, impaired alertness and falls—avoid driving or operating machinery. Risk of dependence, misuse and withdrawal; use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration. Do not stop abruptly (may cause withdrawal symptoms, rebound anxiety, seizures). Use caution in elderly, depression/suicidal thoughts, history of substance abuse, liver disease, kidney disease, respiratory disease (COPD/sleep apnea). Concomitant use with opioids or other CNS depressants can cause profound sedation, respiratory depression, coma or death.
