Alprazolam 0.5 mg
Management of anxiety disorders, short-term relief of severe anxiety symptoms, panic disorder (with or without agoraphobia) as prescribed.
Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine that enhances the effect of GABA, an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. This reduces excessive neuronal activity, producing anxiolytic and calming effects.
Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor, usually with or without food. Swallow with water at the same time each day; do not increase dose or stop suddenly without medical advice.

May cause sedation, impaired alertness and risk of falls—avoid driving/operating machinery. Risk of dependence, abuse and withdrawal (including seizures) especially with high doses/long use; taper gradually. Use with caution in elderly, depression/suicidal ideation, respiratory disease (COPD/sleep apnea), liver impairment, and history of substance use disorder. Avoid in myasthenia gravis and severe respiratory insufficiency unless specifically advised. Seek urgent care for allergic reaction, severe sleepiness, breathing difficulty, confusion or unusual behavior.
