How It Works
Propranolol is a non-selective beta-blocker that reduces the effects of adrenaline on the heart and blood vessels. It lowers heart rate and blood pressure, decreases cardiac workload, and helps stabilize abnormal rhythms. In migraine prevention, it reduces vascular and nerve excitability contributing to attacks.
Directions for Use
Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily for TR/extended-release capsules. Swallow whole; do not crush or chew. Prefer taking at the same time each day; can be taken with or without food but be consistent. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Do not use in asthma/COPD with bronchospasm, severe bradycardia, heart block, cardiogenic shock, or uncontrolled heart failure unless advised by a doctor. May mask symptoms of low blood sugar in diabetics; monitor glucose. Use caution in peripheral vascular disease, thyroid disorders, depression, liver/kidney disease. Taper gradually to avoid rebound angina/hypertension. May cause dizziness—avoid driving if affected.
