Barrier contraception to help prevent pregnancy; helps reduce risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV when used correctly; improves sexual comfort with lubrication

A latex condom creates a physical barrier that prevents semen from entering the vagina during intercourse. This reduces the chance of pregnancy and lowers transmission of many STIs by limiting contact with bodily fluids and mucosal surfaces.

For external (male) use only. Use a new condom for every act of sex. Check expiry and package integrity; open carefully (avoid nails/teeth). Put on the erect penis before any genital contact, pinch the tip to leave space, unroll to the base. After ejaculation, hold the rim and withdraw while still erect; remove and dispose in a bin (do not flush). Use with compatible lubricants (water- or silicone-based); avoid oil-based lubricants with latex.

Skin irritation, itching/burning, redness, latex allergy reactions (rash, swelling), genital discomfort, condom breakage/slippage if used incorrectly

Do not use if allergic to natural rubber latex (choose non-latex alternatives). Stop use and seek medical help if signs of severe allergy occur (hives, swelling, breathing difficulty). Use only one condom at a time; do not use male and female condoms together. Oil-based products (petroleum jelly, mineral oils, some massage oils) can weaken latex and increase breakage. Not 100% effective for pregnancy or STI prevention; correct and consistent use is essential. If condom breaks/slips, consider emergency contraception and STI/HIV advice as appropriate.
