Oral
Allergic rhinitis (seasonal/perennial) with symptoms like sneezing, runny/blocked nose, itching and watery eyes; allergy-related cough/wheeze as advised by doctor
Fexofenadine is a second-generation antihistamine that blocks H1 receptors to reduce allergy symptoms like sneezing and itching. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks inflammatory leukotrienes, reducing nasal congestion and allergy-related airway inflammation.
Oral liquid: shake well before use; measure dose with a calibrated spoon/cup. Give at the same time each day as prescribed; can be taken with or without food. Do not exceed the prescribed dose; follow paediatric dosing strictly.
Headache, drowsiness (rare), dizziness, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhoea, dry mouth, fatigue
Use only on prescription, especially in children. Montelukast has been associated with neuropsychiatric effects (sleep disturbance, agitation, anxiety, mood changes, depression, suicidal thoughts); stop and consult a doctor if such symptoms occur. Use with caution in liver disease. Not meant for sudden asthma attacks; keep rescue inhaler/medicine as advised. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical advice.
Sedatives/CNS depressants (may increase drowsiness), alcohol (may worsen dizziness), strong OATP inhibitors (e.g., rifampicin may reduce fexofenadine levels), antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (reduce fexofenadine absorption; separate by 2 hours), erythromycin/ketoconazole (may increase fexofenadine levels)
Store below 25°C, protect from light and moisture. Keep bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
