Respule
Maintenance treatment of asthma and COPD requiring inhaled corticosteroid with long-acting bronchodilator; helps prevent wheezing, breathlessness and chest tightness.
Budesonide is an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces airway inflammation and swelling, decreasing mucus and hyperreactivity. Formoterol is a long-acting beta2-agonist that relaxes bronchial smooth muscle to keep airways open and improve breathing.
For nebulisation only. Use the respule contents in a nebulizer as prescribed by the doctor, usually 1–2 times daily. Do not swallow or inject. Use regularly at the same time; rinse mouth/throat after nebulisation to reduce oral thrush. Not for acute sudden breathing attacks—use a rescue bronchodilator as advised.
Throat irritation, hoarseness, cough, headache, tremor, palpitations, nausea, dry mouth, oral thrush (candidiasis), upper respiratory tract infection
Not for relief of acute bronchospasm/status asthmaticus. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice. Risk of oral fungal infection—rinse mouth after use. Use with caution in heart disease/arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, seizures, and in patients with infections (including tuberculosis). Long-term/high-dose inhaled steroids may cause adrenal suppression, reduced bone mineral density, cataract/glaucoma, and growth suppression in children. Seek urgent care if breathing worsens or rescue inhaler use increases.
Beta-blockers (may reduce effect), other sympathomimetics (additive side effects), diuretics/xanthines/corticosteroids (may increase hypokalemia risk), strong CYP3A4 inhibitors like ketoconazole/itraconazole/ritonavir/cobicistat (increase budesonide exposure), MAO inhibitors/tricyclic antidepressants (may increase cardiovascular effects)
Store below 25°C in the original pack, protected from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children. Use respule immediately after opening; discard any leftover solution.
Budamate Respules, Foracort Respules (other strengths), Budesonide+Formoterol Respules (generic), Duolin Respules (alternative bronchodilator regimen), Budecort Respules (budesonide-only alternative)
