Relief of nasal congestion due to common cold, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis/upper respiratory tract infections; helps clear blocked nose in infants and young children as directed by a doctor.
Oxymetazoline is a topical nasal decongestant (alpha-adrenergic agonist). It constricts blood vessels in the nasal mucosa, reducing swelling and mucus formation, thereby easing nasal blockage and improving airflow.
For intranasal use only. Use the dose/number of drops and frequency as advised for age (typically 1–2 drops in each nostril up to 2–3 times daily). Clean the nose before use; keep the child’s head slightly tilted back while instilling. Do not use for more than 3 consecutive days unless prescribed; wipe the dropper after use and recap tightly.
Nasal burning or stinging, dryness/irritation of nose or throat, sneezing, headache, nausea, palpitations, rebound nasal congestion (with prolonged use)
Do not exceed recommended dose or duration; prolonged or frequent use can cause rebound congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa). Use with caution in children and only under medical advice, especially in infants. Avoid use in patients with hypersensitivity to oxymetazoline, atrophic rhinitis, or narrow-angle glaucoma. Use caution in hypertension, heart disease, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, or enlarged prostate (systemic effects possible if overused). Seek medical help if symptoms persist beyond 3 days, worsen, or if breathing difficulty/fever occurs.
MAO inhibitors (and within 14 days of stopping), tricyclic antidepressants, other sympathomimetics/decongestants; may increase risk of hypertension or heart rhythm disturbances.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep the bottle tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.
