Treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms such as urinary urgency, increased frequency of urination and urge urinary incontinence
Solifenacin is an antimuscarinic (M3-selective) agent that relaxes the detrusor smooth muscle of the urinary bladder. This reduces involuntary bladder contractions, thereby decreasing urgency, frequency and urge incontinence episodes.
Orally disintegrating granules (ODG): Take as prescribed, usually once daily. Place the granules on the tongue to disintegrate and swallow; may be taken with or without food. Take at the same time each day; do not exceed the prescribed dose.
Dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, abdominal pain, headache, dry eyes, urinary retention
Use with caution in patients with urinary retention, gastric retention, severe constipation, or narrow-angle glaucoma. Caution in elderly and in patients with kidney or liver impairment; dose adjustment/avoidance may be required in severe renal impairment or moderate–severe hepatic impairment. May cause blurred vision/drowsiness—avoid driving if affected. Risk of overheating/heat stroke due to reduced sweating; stay hydrated. Seek medical help for inability to pass urine, severe constipation, allergic reactions or palpitations.
Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, clarithromycin, ritonavir) may increase solifenacin levels; other anticholinergics can increase side effects; cholinesterase inhibitors (e.g., donepezil, rivastigmine) may reduce efficacy; drugs affecting GI motility or causing constipation may worsen effects; QT-prolonging medicines (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, certain antipsychotics/macrolides) use with caution.
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original pack and out of reach of children.
