Relief of common cold symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing and watery eyes; helps loosen thick mucus and relieve productive cough associated with cold/URTI.
Bromhexine is a mucolytic that thins and loosens mucus to make coughing it out easier. Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant (alpha-1 agonist) that reduces swelling in nasal passages. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that reduces sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes.
Oral syrup. Take the prescribed dose using a measuring cup/spoon; can be taken with or without food. Usually taken 2–3 times daily as advised by the doctor; avoid exceeding recommended dose. If it causes drowsiness, avoid driving/operating machinery.
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, constipation, stomach upset, headache, palpitations, increased blood pressure, blurred vision
May cause sleepiness due to antihistamine—use caution while driving. Use with caution in hypertension, heart disease, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, glaucoma, enlarged prostate/urinary retention, liver disease. Not recommended for children below the age advised on label/doctor’s advice. Seek medical help if symptoms persist >3–5 days, high fever develops, breathing difficulty, or thick green/yellow sputum persists. Do not use with other cold/cough products containing similar ingredients. Schedule G: take under medical supervision.
MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, selegiline) and within 14 days—risk of severe hypertension; other antihistamines/sedatives/benzodiazepines/opioids—additive drowsiness; tricyclic antidepressants—may increase decongestant effects; beta-blockers/other antihypertensives—may alter BP response; alcohol—enhanced sedation; other sympathomimetics (decongestants) — increased cardiovascular side effects
