Saaz Tablet

Saaz Tablet contains Sulfasalazine (500mg). Prescription required.

Rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, ulcerative colitis (to reduce inflammation and maintain remission)

Sulfasalazine is converted in the gut to 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) and sulfapyridine. It reduces inflammation by modulating immune and inflammatory mediators, helping relieve joint and intestinal inflammation.

Tablet; take exactly as prescribed, usually after food with a full glass of water. Swallow whole; do not crush/chew. Maintain adequate fluid intake; dosing is often started low and increased gradually to reduce stomach upset.

Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, rash, orange/yellow discoloration of urine/skin, reversible low sperm count

Prescription medicine. Avoid if allergic to sulfonamides or salicylates. Can cause serious skin reactions, blood disorders (low WBC/platelets), liver toxicity, and kidney issues—periodic CBC, LFT, and renal function monitoring is advised. Use caution in G6PD deficiency, asthma, liver or kidney disease. May cause folate deficiency—doctor may advise folic acid. Stop and seek urgent care if severe rash, fever, sore throat, unusual bruising/bleeding, yellowing of eyes/skin, or breathing difficulty occurs.

Warfarin/other anticoagulants, methotrexate, azathioprine/6-mercaptopurine, digoxin, phenytoin, sulfonylureas (antidiabetics), folic acid/folate antagonists, antibiotics that alter gut flora

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from moisture and light. Keep in original strip and out of reach of children.
