Amoxicillin 250 mg + Clavulanic acid 50 mg (as potassium clavulanate) per vial (for IV injection/infusion)
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as lower/upper respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, intra-abdominal infections, bone and joint infections, and infections in hospital/surgical settings where IV therapy is required.
Amoxicillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from enzymatic breakdown, thereby extending its spectrum against beta-lactamase producing bacteria.
For intravenous use only. Reconstitute the vial with sterile water for injection and administer as slow IV injection or further dilute and give as IV infusion as directed by a doctor. Dose and duration depend on infection severity, renal function, and local guidelines; complete the prescribed course.
Common side effects of AUGPEN I.V 300MG may include:
Do not use if allergic to penicillins/cephalosporins or history of severe hypersensitivity reactions. Use with caution in hepatic impairment; monitor liver function if prolonged therapy. Dose adjustment may be needed in renal impairment. Risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea/colitis (seek care if severe or bloody diarrhoea). Prolonged use may cause superinfection. Inform doctor if history of infectious mononucleosis (higher rash risk) or if on anticoagulants.
