Allergic conditions (e.g., asthma exacerbations, allergic rhinitis, urticaria), inflammatory and autoimmune disorders (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, SLE), skin and eye inflammation, inflammatory bowel disease flare-ups; used where systemic corticosteroid therapy is indicated
Prednisolone is a corticosteroid that suppresses inflammation and immune responses. It reduces release of inflammatory mediators and decreases swelling, redness, pain and allergic symptoms.
Take as prescribed by the doctor, preferably in the morning after food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow tablet with water. Do not stop suddenly; dose is usually tapered if used for more than a few days.

Use with caution in diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma/cataract, osteoporosis, peptic ulcer disease, kidney/liver disease, and history of mental health disorders. Long-term or high-dose use can cause adrenal suppression, Cushingoid features, bone loss and increased risk of infections—avoid close contact with people having infections (e.g., chickenpox/measles). Do not receive live vaccines during high-dose/long-term therapy. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration; taper on discontinuation as advised.
