Amitriptyline (as Amitriptyline Hydrochloride) 75 mg
Depression; neuropathic (nerve) pain; prevention of migraine/tension-type headache (as prescribed); certain anxiety/sleep disorders (off-label, doctor-directed)
Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that increases levels of serotonin and noradrenaline in the brain by inhibiting their reuptake, improving mood. It also modulates pain pathways and has sedative effects, which can help in neuropathic pain and sleep.
Take exactly as prescribed. Usually taken by mouth once daily, preferably at bedtime due to drowsiness; can be taken with or without food. Swallow whole with water. Do not stop suddenly—dose is usually tapered by the doctor.
Common side effects of Tryptomer 75 Tablet may include:
May cause marked drowsiness—avoid driving/operating machinery until effects are known. Risk of suicidal thoughts/behavior especially at start of therapy or dose changes; monitor closely. Avoid in recent heart attack; use caution in heart disease, arrhythmias, glaucoma (narrow-angle), urinary retention/prostate enlargement, seizures, bipolar disorder/mania, liver disease, and elderly (higher anticholinergic effects/fall risk). Do not use with MAO inhibitors (or within 14 days). Serotonin syndrome risk with serotonergic medicines. Do not stop abruptly (withdrawal symptoms).
