Ursodeoxycholic Acid (Ursodiol) 300 mg tablet
Dissolution of cholesterol gallstones (when surgery is not suitable), primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) / cholestatic liver disease, symptomatic relief in cholestasis-related pruritus (as prescribed)
Ursodeoxycholic acid is a hydrophilic bile acid that reduces cholesterol saturation of bile by decreasing hepatic cholesterol secretion and increasing bile flow. It also protects liver cells and bile ducts from toxic bile acids, improving cholestasis and liver enzyme levels in certain cholestatic disorders.
Take the tablet whole with water, preferably with food or after meals to reduce stomach upset. Dose and duration depend on indication and body weight; use exactly as prescribed and continue regularly for best effect.
Common side effects of Ursocol 300 Tablet may include:
Use under medical supervision. Not recommended in patients with non-functioning gallbladder, calcified gallstones, frequent biliary colic, or obstruction of the biliary tract (e.g., complete biliary obstruction). Monitor liver function tests periodically, especially in PBC/cholestasis. Use with caution in severe liver disease, pancreatitis, or inflammatory bowel disease; stop and consult doctor if severe diarrhoea, worsening jaundice, or abdominal pain occurs.
