A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Hepakind 300 mg Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Hepakind 300 mg Tablet contains Ursodeoxycholic Acid (300mg). It belongs to the Liver support agent class of medicines.
Ursodeoxycholic Acid supports the liver cells and helps the flow of bile.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it unless your doctor has told you to. Take it with or after food. Taking it at about the same time each day helps you remember. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine may cause loose motions and stomach upset. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Most side effects of Hepakind are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

A liver supplement does not treat the cause of liver disease. Alcohol, weight, viral hepatitis and medicines are what have to be addressed. Stop alcohol completely if you have any liver condition. Report yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, swelling of the abdomen or confusion without delay. Keep your liver function tests and follow-up appointments.
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack.
Tell your doctor about every medicine and supplement you take — the liver processes most of them.
Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
Avoid alcohol entirely, and avoid unnecessary medicines and unregulated herbal preparations. Weight loss and exercise are the proven treatment for fatty liver.
