Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain) including chronic stable angina and vasospastic (Prinzmetal) angina; helps reduce risk of cardiovascular events by controlling BP.

Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It relaxes and widens blood vessels by reducing calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle, lowering blood pressure and improving blood flow to the heart to relieve angina.

Tablet for oral use. Take once daily at the same time each day, with or without food, as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Use with caution in liver disease (dose adjustment may be needed). May cause dizziness—avoid driving/operating machinery if affected. Monitor for swelling, low blood pressure, or worsening chest pain after initiation (rare). Not a treatment for acute chest pain attack. Inform doctor if you have heart failure, severe aortic stenosis, or are elderly.

CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin, ketoconazole/itraconazole, ritonavir) may increase amlodipine levels; CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin) may reduce effect; additive BP lowering with other antihypertensives; simvastatin (limit simvastatin dose to 20 mg/day when used with amlodipine); grapefruit juice may increase levels in some patients.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
