Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure); may be used in chronic stable angina as prescribed, especially when combination therapy is needed.
Bisoprolol is a cardioselective beta-blocker that reduces heart rate and cardiac output, lowering blood pressure and myocardial oxygen demand. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels by inhibiting calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle, reducing peripheral resistance and improving blood flow.
Take orally exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Dizziness, headache, fatigue, slow heart rate (bradycardia), low blood pressure, ankle/leg swelling (edema), flushing, nausea, constipation
Use with caution in asthma/COPD, diabetes (may mask hypoglycemia symptoms), thyroid disorders, peripheral vascular disease, and in patients with low heart rate, heart block, or heart failure. Monitor blood pressure and pulse regularly. Do not stop bisoprolol abruptly (risk of rebound angina/hypertension). Seek medical help for severe dizziness/fainting, very slow pulse, worsening breathlessness, or swelling. Dose adjustment/monitoring may be needed in liver or kidney impairment.
Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), verapamil/diltiazem (risk of bradycardia/heart block), digoxin (bradycardia), antiarrhythmics e.g. amiodarone (conduction issues), clonidine (rebound hypertension if stopped improperly), NSAIDs (may reduce antihypertensive effect), CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers affecting amlodipine (e.g. ketoconazole, erythromycin, rifampicin), alcohol (may increase dizziness)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct light. Keep in original pack and out of reach of children.
