Tablet
Relief of allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny/blocked nose, itchy/watery eyes (allergic rhinitis) and itching/wheals in urticaria (hives).
Cetirizine is a second‑generation antihistamine that selectively blocks peripheral H1 receptors. It reduces the effects of histamine released during allergic reactions, relieving itching, sneezing and watery eyes with relatively less sedation than older antihistamines.
Oral tablet. Adults and children ≥12 years: typically 1 tablet (10 mg) once daily, preferably in the evening if it causes drowsiness. Can be taken with or without food; swallow with water. Use as directed by a doctor, especially in kidney disease and in children.
Sleepiness/drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, sore throat
May cause drowsiness in some people—avoid driving or operating machinery if affected. Use with caution in kidney impairment; dose adjustment may be needed. Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Stop and seek medical help if signs of severe allergy occur (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty).
Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), sedatives/sleeping pills, opioid painkillers, other antihistamines; theophylline may reduce cetirizine clearance at higher doses
Store below 25°C in a dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
