Telmisartan 40 mg + Amlodipine 5 mg (tablet)
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), especially when single medicine is not enough; helps reduce risk of cardiovascular events like stroke and heart attack associated with uncontrolled BP
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II, lowering blood pressure. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that widens arteries by reducing calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle. Together they provide additive BP lowering and 24-hour control.
Take orally once daily or as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food; swallow whole with water. Do not stop abruptly without medical advice; monitor BP regularly.
Common side effects of Telma Am Tablet may include:
Not recommended in pregnancy; stop and consult doctor if pregnancy occurs. Use with caution in kidney disease, liver impairment, heart failure, severe aortic stenosis, dehydration/low blood pressure, and elderly. May cause dizziness—avoid driving if affected. Monitor kidney function and potassium; risk of high potassium especially with kidney disease or potassium-raising medicines.
