Composition of Telmikind AM Tablet

Telmikind AM Tablet contains Telmisartan (40mg) + Amlodipine (5mg). It belongs to the Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) + Calcium channel blocker (dihydropyridine) class of medicines.

How Telmikind AM Tablet works

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II at AT1 receptors, lowering blood pressure. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (dihydropyridine) that reduces calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle, causing vasodilation and further BP reduction.

How to take Telmikind AM Tablet

Oral tablet. Take once daily at the same time each day, with or without food, as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow whole with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. It can cause a severe fall in blood pressure and a dangerously slow or irregular heartbeat. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Telmikind AM Tablet

Most side effects of Telmikind AM are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Dizziness
• headache
• ankle/foot swelling (peripheral edema)
• flushing
• fatigue
• palpitations
• nausea

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not recommended in pregnancy (can harm fetus); stop and consult doctor if pregnancy occurs. Use with caution in kidney disease, renal artery stenosis, dehydration/low blood pressure, liver impairment, and in patients on diuretics. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function (serum creatinine) and potassium as ARBs may cause hyperkalemia. May cause dizziness—avoid driving if affected. Rare angioedema can occur; seek urgent care for facial/lip/tongue swelling or breathing difficulty.

Do not take Telmikind AM if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines. Not for people with very low blood pressure or with severe narrowing of the aortic valve.

Interactions with other medicines

Potassium supplements/salt substitutes and potassium-sparing diuretics (risk of hyperkalemia), ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (increased renal risk; avoid in diabetes with aliskiren), NSAIDs (reduced effect and kidney risk), lithium (toxicity risk), other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (may increase amlodipine levels), grapefruit juice (may increase amlodipine exposure in some patients).

How to store Telmikind AM Tablet

Telmikind-AM Tablet is a combination of two medicines that provides better blood pressure control than either medicine alone. Telmikind-AM Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you. It may cause you to feel lightheaded or weak especially when you stand up.  Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.  Avoid consuming alcohol as it may enhance the blood pressure lowering effect of this medicine. It can cause ankle or foot swelling. Raise your legs while you are sitting down and talk to your doctor if it does not go away. Do not take Telmikind-AM Tablet if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
