Formoterol fumarate dihydrate 6 mcg + Budesonide 400 mcg per dose (dry powder inhaler)

Maintenance treatment of asthma; maintenance therapy in COPD with frequent symptoms/exacerbations where inhaled corticosteroid + long-acting bronchodilator is indicated

Budesonide is an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces airway inflammation, swelling and mucus production. Formoterol is a long-acting beta2-agonist that relaxes airway smooth muscles to keep the airways open and improve breathing.

For inhalation use only via DPI as prescribed by the doctor. Use regularly at the same time each day; do not exceed the prescribed number of inhalations. Rinse mouth/gargle with water and spit after each use to reduce risk of oral thrush; not meant for immediate relief of sudden breathlessness (keep a reliever inhaler if prescribed).

Not for acute bronchospasm/quick relief. Use with caution in heart disease, arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, seizures, and in patients prone to hypokalaemia. Risk of pneumonia in COPD and oral candidiasis—rinse mouth after use. Do not stop abruptly; seek medical advice if symptoms worsen or rescue inhaler use increases. Long-term/high-dose inhaled steroids may rarely cause adrenal suppression, reduced bone density, cataract/glaucoma; monitor if used for prolonged periods.

Beta-blockers (may reduce effect/trigger bronchospasm), other sympathomimetics (increased side effects), diuretics or xanthines like theophylline (may increase hypokalaemia risk), MAOIs/TCAs (may increase cardiovascular effects), strong CYP3A4 inhibitors like ketoconazole/itraconazole/ritonavir/cobicistat (increase budesonide levels), QT-prolonging medicines (caution)

Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep inhaler tightly closed and out of reach of children.
