Cefixime 100 mg (dispersible tablet)
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as acute otitis media (ear infection), pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, acute bronchitis/exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, and typhoid fever (enteric fever) as prescribed.
Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It kills bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. It is effective only against bacterial (not viral) infections.
Dispersible tablet: dissolve in a small amount of water and consume immediately, or swallow as directed. Can be taken with or without food (taking with food may reduce stomach upset). Use exactly as prescribed and complete the full course; do not stop early even if you feel better.
Common side effects of ZEDOCEF-100 DT may include:
Prescription antibiotic—use only on doctor’s advice. Do not use if allergic to cefixime/cephalosporins; cross-sensitivity may occur in penicillin allergy. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed) and in patients with history of colitis/antibiotic-associated diarrhoea; seek care if severe/persistent diarrhoea occurs. Not effective for viral infections. Prolonged use may cause superinfection; monitor if symptoms persist.
