Cefpodoxime proxetil 100 mg (dispersible tablet)
Bacterial infections such as upper and lower respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), urinary tract infections, and skin/soft tissue infections caused by susceptible bacteria
Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to cell lysis and death of susceptible bacteria.
Dispersible tablet: dissolve the tablet in a small amount of water and drink immediately. Take as prescribed by the doctor, usually with food to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset. Complete the full course even if you feel better; do not skip doses.

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Cefoprox 100 DT 10S. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Use only for bacterial infections (not viral). Inform your doctor if you have allergy to cephalosporins/penicillins, history of severe allergy, kidney disease, or previous antibiotic-associated diarrhea/colitis. May cause diarrhea; seek medical help for severe/persistent diarrhea or blood in stools (risk of C. difficile). Dose adjustment may be needed in renal impairment. Use caution in patients with gastrointestinal disease. Antibiotics may reduce effectiveness of oral typhoid vaccine.
