How Serobid Rotacap works

Beclometasone is an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces airway inflammation, swelling and mucus production. Regular use decreases bronchial hyper-responsiveness and helps prevent wheezing and breathlessness.

How to take Serobid Rotacap

For inhalation use only with a compatible Rotahaler/rotacap inhaler device. Use exactly as prescribed, usually as a regular daily controller and not for immediate relief. Load one rotacap into the device, pierce as per device instructions, inhale deeply and hold breath for a few seconds; discard empty shell. Rinse mouth/gargle after use to reduce risk of oral thrush.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a racing heart, marked tremor, headache and a fall in blood potassium. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Serobid Rotacap

Most side effects of Serobid are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Throat irritation
• hoarseness/dysphonia
• cough
• oral thrush (candidiasis)
• dry mouth
• headache
• unpleasant taste

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not for acute asthma attack/bronchospasm—keep a reliever inhaler (e.g., salbutamol) for sudden symptoms. Do not stop abruptly; use regularly for best control. Rinse mouth after each dose to prevent fungal infection. Use with caution in untreated infections (including TB), glaucoma/cataract, osteoporosis, diabetes, liver impairment, and in children (monitor growth). Seek medical help if breathing worsens after use (paradoxical bronchospasm). Long-term/high-dose use may rarely cause adrenal suppression or systemic steroid effects.

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for anyone with a known allergy to the propellant used in the inhaler.

Interactions with other medicines

Strong CYP3A inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir, cobicistat, ketoconazole, itraconazole, clarithromycin) may increase systemic corticosteroid effects; other corticosteroids (additive effects); medicines that lower immunity may increase infection risk

How to store Serobid Rotacap

Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep rotacaps in original packaging until use. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Serobid Rotacap

Take the first dose of this medicine under medical supervision as it may cause wheezing or tightening of the airways (bronchospasm) immediately after using. It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems. Use your rescue inhaler to control sudden difficulty in breathing. Gargle with warm water after each inhalation to avoid any fungal infections in your mouth and throat. Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
