8X Shampoo is a prescription medicine containing Ciclopirox (1% w/v) + Zinc pyrithione (1% w/v). It is used for helps manage dandruff, associated itching, flaking of the scalp and supports control of scalp fungal overgrowth in seborrheic dermatitis. It belongs to the group of medicines called Antifungal and Hair growth stimulant / anti-dandruff agent.
Wet hair and scalp, apply adequate amount, massage into scalp and leave for 3. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with 8X Shampoo are mild burning or stinging, scalp irritation, dryness and itching. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how 8X Shampoo works.
Most side effects of 8X Shampoo are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Wet hair and scalp, apply adequate amount, massage into scalp and leave for 3–5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Use 2–3 times a week or as advised; avoid contact with eyes and broken skin.
Anti-dandruff shampoos typically work by reducing the growth of dandruff-causing fungi (Malassezia) and by decreasing scalp scaling. Regular use helps loosen flakes and calm scalp irritation.
For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes; if contact occurs, rinse well with water. Discontinue and consult a doctor if severe irritation, rash, swelling, or worsening occurs. Use with caution on very sensitive or broken skin. Not for ingestion; keep out of reach of children.
If you miss a dose of 8X Shampoo, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
An overdose of this medicine is unlikely from skin use; swallowing the preparation may cause stomach upset. It can cause a fall in blood pressure and a racing heart when far too much is applied to the skin. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
No clinically significant drug interactions expected with topical shampoo use; avoid using multiple medicated/irritant scalp products together unless advised.
Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Keep cap tightly closed; do not freeze.
