Sitagliptin 50 mg
Type 2 diabetes mellitus: used to improve blood sugar control along with diet and exercise; may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines as prescribed.
Sitagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor. It increases incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), which enhance glucose-dependent insulin release and reduce glucagon secretion, thereby lowering blood glucose mainly after meals.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily, with or without food. Swallow tablet whole with water; take at the same time each day. Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney disease; do not stop or change dose without medical advice.

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment required) and in patients with history of pancreatitis; stop and seek medical help if severe abdominal pain occurs. Rare but serious hypersensitivity reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty) can occur; discontinue if suspected. May cause low blood sugar when used with insulin or sulfonylureas; monitor glucose. Report severe joint pain or skin blisters/sores (bullous pemphigoid) to a doctor.
