Vilbetes 50 mg Tablet contains Vildagliptin (50mg). It belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor (gliptin) class of medicines.

How Vilbetes 50 mg Tablet works

Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). This enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion and reduces glucagon release, helping lower blood glucose with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.

How to take Vilbetes 50 mg Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor, usually once or twice daily. Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day and continue diet/exercise plan. Do not double the dose if a dose is missed.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in liver disease; liver function tests may be needed before and during treatment—stop and seek care if jaundice/dark urine occurs. Use caution in renal impairment and in elderly; dose adjustment may be required based on kidney function. Rare risk of pancreatitis—seek medical help for severe persistent abdominal pain. If used with sulfonylurea/insulin, risk of hypoglycaemia may increase. Inform doctor about history of heart failure; monitor for fluid retention/shortness of breath.

Do not take Vilbetes if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased risk of hypoglycaemia),ACE inhibitors (rare increased risk of angioedema),other antidiabetic drugs (additive glucose-lowering effect); clinically significant CYP interactions are unlikely.

Vilbetes 50mg Tablet should be taken at the same time every day since this helps you remember to take it.
