Bacterial infections such as acute otitis media, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and skin/soft tissue infections (as prescribed)

Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to bacterial cell death.

Shake well before use. Measure dose with a calibrated spoon/syringe and take exactly as prescribed, preferably with food to improve absorption. Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.

Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, rash

Use only for suspected/confirmed bacterial infection. Do not use in patients with known cephalosporin allergy; use caution with penicillin allergy. Dose adjustment may be needed in renal impairment. Prolonged use may cause superinfection; seek care for severe/persistent diarrhea (risk of C. difficile).

Warfarin/other anticoagulants (increased bleeding risk), probenecid (increases levels), antacids/H2 blockers (may reduce absorption), live bacterial vaccines (reduced effect, e.g., typhoid)

Store as directed on pack; typically reconstituted suspension should be kept in a cool place and used within the labeled period. Protect from heat, light and moisture; keep bottle tightly closed.
