Monograph
Sucralyn Syrup 100 ml is a prescription medicine. It is used for symptoms due to acidity, acid-peptic disorders such as gastritis, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, peptic and duodenal ulcer (if sucralfate-containing). It belongs to the group of medicines called Mucosal protectant (sucralfate).
Oral syrup. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Sucralyn Syrup 100 ml are constipation, nausea, dry mouth and stomach discomfort. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Sucralyn Syrup 100 ml works.

Most side effects of Sucralyn are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Oral syrup. If sucralfate-based, typically taken on an empty stomach (about 1 hour before meals and at bedtime) as directed by the physician. Shake well before use; use a measuring cup/spoon; avoid taking other medicines within 2 hours unless advised.
If it contains sucralfate, it forms a protective coating over ulcerated/inflamed gastric and duodenal mucosa and protects it from acid, bile and pepsin, promoting healing. It acts locally in the stomach with minimal systemic absorption.
Composition/strength not available—confirm label before dispensing. If sucralfate-containing: may cause constipation; use with caution in severe kidney disease (risk of aluminium accumulation), in patients on dialysis, and in those with difficulty swallowing. Separate from other oral medicines by at least 2 hours (can reduce their absorption). Seek medical advice for black stools, vomiting blood, severe abdominal pain, or symptoms persisting >2 weeks.
May reduce absorption of: fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin/ofloxacin), tetracyclines, levothyroxine, digoxin, phenytoin, warfarin, iron salts; antacids can reduce binding if taken together (separate by at least 30 minutes).
Store below 25°C, protect from light and moisture. Keep bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
