Levetiracetam (1000mg)
Leveratam 1000 mg Tablet contains Levetiracetam (1000mg) and is used for epilepsy, seizures, bipolar disorder and migraine prevention. Prescription required.
Monograph
Leveratam 1000 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Levetiracetam (1000mg). It is used for epilepsy, seizures, bipolar disorder and migraine prevention. It belongs to the group of medicines called Anticonvulsant.
Leveratam 1000 mg Tablet is taken exactly as your doctor prescribes. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond, and this page does not publish dosing for a medicine in its schedule.
The side effects seen most often with Leveratam 1000 mg Tablet are drowsiness, dizziness, unsteadiness and nausea. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Leveratam 1000 mg Tablet works.
Most side effects of Leveratam are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Levetiracetam steadies the electrical activity in the brain, making a seizure less likely to start and spread.
Never stop or change an anti-epileptic on your own. Stopping abruptly can cause prolonged, dangerous seizures. Sodium valproate and divalproex must not be used by anyone who is pregnant or could become pregnant unless a specialist has confirmed there is no alternative — they cause serious birth defects and developmental problems. Effective contraception is essential. Seek urgent care for any rash, especially in the first weeks — a rash with fever, blistering or peeling can be life-threatening. Report yellowing of the eyes or skin, persistent vomiting, unusual bruising or severe tiredness at once. Tell your doctor about any change in mood or any thoughts of harming yourself. Take the same brand each time unless your neurologist has agreed to a change; switching can alter seizure control.
Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
