Levesam 500MG Tab

Levesam 500MG Tab contains Levetiracetam 500 mg (film-coated tablet). Prescription required.

Treatment of epilepsy/seizure disorders: partial-onset seizures, myoclonic seizures, and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (as monotherapy or adjunct therapy as prescribed).

Levetiracetam is an antiepileptic medicine that binds to synaptic vesicle protein SV2A in the brain. This helps regulate neurotransmitter release and stabilizes abnormal electrical activity, reducing seizure frequency.

Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually twice daily, with or without food. Swallow tablet whole with water; do not crush/chew unless advised. Take at the same times daily; do not stop suddenly—taper only under medical supervision.

Sleepiness (somnolence), dizziness, fatigue, headache, irritability, nausea, weakness, loss of appetite

May cause drowsiness/dizziness—avoid driving/operating machinery until you know the effect. Do not stop abruptly (risk of increased seizures). Monitor for mood/behavior changes, depression, aggression or suicidal thoughts—seek medical help if present. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed); elderly may be more sensitive. Rare severe allergic reactions and skin reactions can occur. Inform doctor if pregnant/planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Other CNS depressants (alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids) may increase drowsiness; methotrexate (may reduce clearance/increase levels); probenecid (may increase metabolite levels).

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
