Monograph
Zytrav Eye Drops is a prescription medicine containing Travoprost. It is used for eye infection, eye inflammation, dry eyes, glaucoma and allergic conjunctivitis. It belongs to the group of medicines called Eye drops.
Use only as prescribed by an eye specialist. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Zytrav Eye Drops are stinging on instillation, blurred vision for a few minutes, watering and redness. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Zytrav Eye Drops works.
Most side effects of Zytrav are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Use only as prescribed by an eye specialist. Wash hands before use. Instil the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye(s) and avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface. If using other eye medicines, keep a 5–10 minute gap between applications.
Travoprost acts directly on the surface and inside of the eye where it is instilled.
For ophthalmic use only. Do not use if the seal is broken. To prevent contamination, avoid touching the dropper tip. Discard the bottle 4 weeks after opening (or as stated on label). Seek medical advice if eye pain, worsening redness, swelling, vision changes, or allergic reactions occur. Use with caution in pregnancy/breastfeeding and in children unless prescribed.
Apply it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next application, skip the missed one — applying extra does not make up for it.
An overdose of this medicine is unlikely from eye use; flush the eye with clean water if too much is instilled. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Store at room temperature (generally below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Keep the container tightly closed.
