How Azitus 200 Suspension 15 ml works

Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This stops growth of susceptible bacteria and helps clear the infection.

How to take Azitus 200 Suspension 15 ml

Oral suspension. Reconstitute with boiled and cooled water up to the mark, shake well before each dose. Measure with a dosing syringe/cup and take once daily as prescribed; may be taken with or without food (with food may reduce stomach upset). Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Azitus as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Azitus than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Warnings and precautions

Use only for bacterial infections (not for viral cold/flu). Your child must complete the entire course of this medicine. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection. Give Azitus XL 200 Suspension with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Azitus XL 200 Suspension will not be effective for viral infections. However, the doctor may prescribe this medicine in case of a secondary bacterial infection. So make sure to speak to your child’s doctor first. Only give Azitus XL 200 Suspension to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop the medicine and contact the doctor immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, and breathing difficulties soon after the intake.
