Treatment of depression (major depressive disorder), generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (as prescribed)
Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It increases serotonin levels in the brain by blocking its reuptake, which helps improve mood and reduces anxiety symptoms.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food; swallow tablet with water. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice; dose may need gradual tapering.
Common side effects of ESCIGRESS 10MG TAB may include:
May increase risk of suicidal thoughts/behavior especially in children, adolescents and young adults—monitor closely. Do not use with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping an MAOI; risk of serotonin syndrome (agitation, fever, tremor, diarrhea). Use caution in bipolar disorder (may trigger mania), epilepsy/seizures, liver impairment, kidney impairment, bleeding disorders, and in elderly (risk of hyponatremia). Can cause QT prolongation in susceptible patients or at higher doses—caution in heart disease, low potassium/magnesium. May impair alertness; avoid driving if drowsy.
