Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It increases serotonin levels in the brain by blocking its reuptake, helping improve mood and reduce anxiety symptoms.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Common side effects of ESCITALOVIS 5 TAB may include:
Prescription-only medicine. Do not stop abruptly (withdrawal symptoms). May increase suicidal thoughts/behavior in children, adolescents and young adults, especially early in treatment or dose changes—seek help for mood/behavior changes. Risk of serotonin syndrome (agitation, fever, tremor, diarrhea), QT prolongation/irregular heartbeat (higher risk with heart disease, low potassium/magnesium or QT-prolonging drugs). Use caution in bipolar disorder/mania, epilepsy, liver impairment, glaucoma, bleeding disorders, and in elderly (hyponatremia/falls).
