Composition of Sentidor

Sentidor contains Gabapentin (6% w/w) + Lidocaine (5% w/w). It belongs to the Gabapentinoid and First-aid agent class of medicines.

How Sentidor works

Sentidor Gel is a combination of two medicines: Gabapentin and Lidocaine. Gabapentin is an alpha 2 delta ligand which decreases pain by modulating calcium channel activity of the nerve cells. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic which works by blocking pain signals from the nerves to brain thereby decreasing the sensation of pain. Together, they relieve neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves).

How to take Sentidor

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the gel. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Sentidor Gel, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause deep drowsiness, confusion, unsteadiness and slowed breathing, especially with an opioid or alcohol. It is unlikely from external use. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Sentidor

Most side effects of Sentidor are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Sentidor

Warnings and precautions

This medicine causes drowsiness and unsteadiness, particularly when you start it or the dose goes up. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you. Never stop it suddenly. Stopping abruptly can cause anxiety, sleeplessness, sweating and, in people taking it for epilepsy, fits. Your doctor will taper it. Tell your doctor about any change in mood or any thoughts of harming yourself. The dose is usually built up slowly from a low starting point — follow the schedule your doctor gave you rather than jumping to the full dose. Pregabalin comes under Schedule H1 from 16 November 2026 and will then need a prescription and a pharmacy register entry. For external use only, unless the pack says otherwise. See a doctor for a deep, dirty or heavily bleeding wound, an animal bite, or any wound showing signs of infection. Check that your tetanus cover is current after any dirty or penetrating wound.

Do not take Sentidor if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for use on large burns or deep wounds without medical advice.

Interactions with other medicines

Opioid painkillers, alcohol, sleeping tablets and antihistamines all add to the drowsiness, and the combination with opioids can dangerously slow breathing. Antacids reduce the absorption of gabapentin — separate them by a couple of hours. No significant interactions are expected.

How to store Sentidor

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Expert advice for Sentidor

Sentidor Gel is used to treat certain types of long-lasting pain caused by damage to nerves. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, nose and rinse thoroughly in case of accidental contact or seek medical help in case of swallowing. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other pain-relieving medicines. Along with taking Sentidor Gel, your doctor might advise you to undergo physiotherapy to get relief from pain.
