MCTs are rapidly digested and absorbed compared to long-chain fats and are transported directly to the liver via the portal vein. They provide quick energy and are less dependent on bile salts and pancreatic enzymes for absorption.
Oral use. Use as directed by physician/dietitian. Start with small quantity and increase gradually to improve tolerance. Can be mixed with food or beverages (e.g., milk, porridge, smoothies) or added to feeds; avoid overheating/frying; take with meals if gastric upset occurs.

Use with caution in liver disease, diabetes (calorie load), and patients on medically supervised diets. Introduce gradually to reduce GI side effects. Not for parenteral use. Stop and seek medical advice if severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, or allergic reaction occurs. Use under medical supervision in infants/children and in patients with severe illness.
