Temozolomide (100mg)
Temoside 100 mg Capsule is used for treatment of certain brain cancers such as glioblastoma multiforme (newly diagnosed and recurrent) and anaplastic astrocytoma, as prescribed by an oncologist.
Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated August 2026
Temoside 100 mg Capsule contains Temozolomide (100mg). It belongs to the Alkylating agent (Triazene) class of medicines.
Temozolomide is an alkylating agent that converts to an active metabolite (MTIC) in the body. It methylates DNA in tumor cells, leading to DNA damage and inhibition of cancer cell growth and replication.
Take exactly as directed by the oncologist. Swallow the capsule whole with water on an empty stomach (typically 1 hour before or 2 hours after food), preferably at the same time each day; do not open, crush, or chew. Use anti-nausea medicine if prescribed; follow the treatment cycle schedule strictly.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Temoside 100 Capsule, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Temoside than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Temoside are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Cytotoxic chemotherapy—use only under specialist supervision. Can cause severe myelosuppression (low blood counts) leading to infections/bleeding; regular CBC monitoring required. Risk of opportunistic infections (including Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia), especially with concomitant radiotherapy or steroids—prophylaxis may be needed. Avoid pregnancy; may harm the unborn baby. Men should use effective contraception during treatment and for a period after; fertility may be affected. Do not open capsules; avoid contact with powder (wash thoroughly if contact occurs). Seek urgent care for fever, sore throat, unusual bruising/bleeding, breathlessness, or severe rash.
Valproic acid (may alter temozolomide clearance), other myelosuppressive/chemotherapy agents (additive bone marrow suppression), corticosteroids and radiotherapy (increased infection risk), live vaccines (avoid during immunosuppression), drugs affecting kidney/liver function (monitoring advised)
Store below 25°C in original pack, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Handle as a cytotoxic medicine; follow disposal instructions from the hospital/pharmacy.
Temoside 100 Capsule should be taken on an empty stomach. Do not skip any dose and complete the course as suggested by your doctor. Use an effective method of birth control to avoid pregnancy while taking this medication. It increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, cutting fingernails or toenails, or using sharp objects. Your doctor may get regular blood tests done to monitor your blood cell count and liver function. Inform your doctor if you experience severe skin rash, fever, chills, headache and shortness of breath during the treatment.
