Carnisure 500 Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Levocarnitine (500mg). It is used for carnitine deficiency, supportive therapy in certain metabolic disorders, used as a supplement in fatigue and muscle weakness under medical advice. It belongs to the group of medicines called Amino acid derivative (Carnitine).
Take as directed by your doctor, preferably with food to reduce stomach upset. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Carnisure 500 Tablet are nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhoea. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Carnisure 500 Tablet works.
Most side effects of Carnisure are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take as directed by your doctor, preferably with food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow with water; dose and duration depend on indication and lab evaluation.
L-Carnitine helps transport long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria for energy production. It supports energy metabolism in muscles and other tissues, especially when carnitine levels are low.
Use with caution in patients with seizure disorders (may increase seizure risk) and in severe kidney disease. If you have hypothyroidism or are on thyroid hormones, consult your doctor. Not a substitute for a balanced diet; use only as advised in pregnancy/breastfeeding.
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine may cause stomach upset and, with prolonged excess, puts avoidable load on the kidneys. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Warfarin (may increase INR), thyroid hormones (may reduce effect of levothyroxine in some reports)
