Zerapod Cv Tablet contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil (200mg) + Clavulanic Acid (125mg). It belongs to the Third-generation cephalosporin + beta-lactamase inhibitor class of medicines.

How Zerapod Cv Tablet works

Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects cefpodoxime from degradation by beta-lactamase–producing bacteria, improving coverage against resistant strains.

Most side effects of Zerapod Cv are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Use only for bacterial infections. Risk of allergy/hypersensitivity in patients with penicillin/cephalosporin allergy—seek help for rash, swelling, breathing difficulty. May cause diarrhoea; if severe/watery/bloody, consider C. difficile and consult doctor. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed) and in history of colitis. Prolonged use may cause superinfection. Can affect some lab tests (e.g., Coombs test).

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for anyone with a known allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics. Not for anyone with a known penicillin allergy.

Interactions with other medicines

Probenecid (may increase antibiotic levels), anticoagulants such as warfarin (may increase bleeding risk/INR), antacids/H2 blockers/PPIs (may reduce cefpodoxime absorption), live bacterial vaccines (e.g., oral typhoid) may have reduced effect, other nephrotoxic drugs (monitor in renal impairment)

How to store Zerapod Cv Tablet

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.

Consider taking it with food and plenty of fluids to avoid an upset stomach. Finish the prescribed course, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat. Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with Zerapod CV 200mg/125mg Tablet may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps. Stop taking Zerapod CV 200mg/125mg Tablet and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat, or tongue, or breathing difficulties while taking it.
