Ondansetron 8 mg (as ondansetron hydrochloride) tablet
Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy (CINV), radiotherapy (RINV), and postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV)
Ondansetron is a selective 5-HT3 (serotonin) receptor antagonist. It blocks serotonin-mediated stimulation of vagal afferents in the gut and the chemoreceptor trigger zone in the brain, thereby reducing nausea and vomiting.
Take tablet by mouth exactly as prescribed. It may be taken with or without food; taking after food may reduce stomach upset. Typical use is before chemotherapy/radiotherapy or as directed for postoperative nausea; swallow with water.
Common side effects of ZONALTA 8MG TAB may include:
Use with caution in patients with prolonged QT interval, heart rhythm disorders, electrolyte imbalance (low potassium/magnesium), heart failure, or severe liver impairment (dose adjustment may be needed). Seek urgent help for palpitations, fainting, severe dizziness, or signs of serotonin syndrome (agitation, sweating, tremor) especially if taken with serotonergic medicines. Not recommended with apomorphine (risk of severe hypotension and loss of consciousness).
