Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acidity and heartburn, reflux esophagitis, gastritis, dyspepsia associated with nausea/vomiting due to delayed gastric emptying

Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces stomach acid by blocking the H+/K+ ATPase pump in gastric parietal cells. Domperidone is a prokinetic/antiemetic that increases gastric motility and reduces nausea by blocking dopamine (D2) receptors mainly in the gut.

Tablet/capsule to be taken as prescribed, usually once daily 15–30 minutes before food (preferably before breakfast). Swallow whole; do not crush or chew as it is modified release. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.

Use with caution in liver disease. Domperidone may increase risk of QT prolongation/serious heart rhythm problems, especially in patients with existing heart disease, electrolyte imbalance, or with higher doses—seek medical advice if palpitations, fainting occur. Long-term PPI use may be associated with low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency, bone fracture risk, and increased risk of certain infections (e.g., C. difficile). Not recommended for self-medication for prolonged periods; rule out alarm symptoms (weight loss, GI bleeding, persistent vomiting, difficulty swallowing).

Domperidone: avoid with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors and QT-prolonging drugs (e.g., ketoconazole/itraconazole, erythromycin/clarithromycin, ritonavir, amiodarone, certain antipsychotics). Rabeprazole: may reduce absorption of drugs needing acidic pH (e.g., ketoconazole, iron salts); may affect anticoagulants (warfarin) and digoxin—monitor if used together.

Store below 25°C, protect from moisture and light, keep in original blister pack, keep out of reach of children.
