Relief of dry/irritating cough associated with common cold, throat irritation or upper respiratory tract infections; helps reduce cough frequency and provides anti-allergic relief (sneezing, runny nose).
This is typically a cough suppressant plus anti-allergic combination. The antitussive reduces the cough reflex, while the antihistamine decreases allergy symptoms like sneezing and runny nose.
Shake well before use. Measure the dose with a measuring cup/spoon and take as advised by a doctor. Can be taken with or without food; taking after food may reduce stomach upset. Avoid driving if it causes drowsiness.
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, constipation, stomach upset
May cause drowsiness—avoid driving/operating machinery. Use with caution in children, elderly, liver disease, glaucoma, enlarged prostate/urinary retention, asthma/COPD, and in patients taking other sedatives. Do not use for persistent/chronic cough (e.g., asthma, smoking) unless advised by a doctor. Seek medical help if cough lasts >7 days, returns, or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache.
Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), sedating antihistamines, opioids, benzodiazepines, sleep medicines, MAO inhibitors (if antihistamine component present), serotonergic medicines (if dextromethorphan component present)
