Allergic rhinitis (seasonal/perennial) with symptoms like sneezing, runny/blocked nose, itchy/watery eyes; allergy-related cough/wheeze; as add-on therapy in asthma/allergy where advised by a doctor
Levocetirizine is an antihistamine that blocks H1 receptors to reduce sneezing, itching and runny nose. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks leukotrienes, helping decrease allergy-related inflammation, nasal congestion and wheezing.
Tablet; usually taken once daily, preferably in the evening or at bedtime. Can be taken with or without food. Swallow whole with water; take at the same time each day or as prescribed.
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, fatigue, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea
May cause drowsiness—avoid driving/alcohol until you know how it affects you. Use with caution in kidney disease (levocetirizine may need dose adjustment), liver disease, and in patients with a history of mood/behavior changes. Montelukast has been associated rarely with neuropsychiatric effects (sleep disturbance, agitation, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts)—stop and seek medical advice if such symptoms occur. Not for acute asthma attacks; keep rescue inhaler if you have asthma.
Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), sedatives/antihistamines (additive sedation). Enzyme inducers like rifampicin, phenytoin, phenobarbital may reduce montelukast levels. Gemfibrozil may increase montelukast exposure.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
