Amlokos 400mg/57mg Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents, amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas, clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Shake well before use. Measure the dose with a marked spoon/cup. Give at the same time each day as prescribed. Follow the reconstitution instructions on the label (add boiled and cooled water up to the mark) if supplied as dry syrup. Complete the full course if prescribed for infection.

Do not use if allergic to the medicine or any ingredients. Use with caution in liver or kidney disease. Seek medical help if severe diarrhoea, rash, breathing difficulty, or signs of allergy occur. Use only on a doctor’s prescription, especially in children.

May interact with other prescription medicines; check with doctor/pharmacist if taking anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), antiepileptics, or other antibiotics.

Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from light. After reconstitution, store as directed on the label (often refrigerated) and use within the recommended period; do not freeze.
