Relief of dry cough and associated throat irritation due to common cold/upper respiratory tract allergy (as per physician advice).

DX cough syrups typically contain an antitussive that suppresses the cough reflex in the brain and may include agents that reduce allergy symptoms and thin mucus, easing cough and throat irritation. Exact mechanism depends on the active ingredients present in the formulation.

Shake well before use. Measure dose with a cup/spoon and take by mouth as prescribed by the doctor. Can be taken with or without food; take at the same times each day. Do not exceed the recommended dose; avoid driving if it causes drowsiness.

May cause sleepiness/dizziness—avoid driving or operating machinery. Do not use with other cough/cold products containing similar ingredients. Use with caution in liver disease, asthma/COPD, glaucoma, enlarged prostate/urinary retention, and in elderly. Not recommended for children unless prescribed. Seek medical help if cough persists >7 days, is recurrent, or is accompanied by fever, rash, breathing difficulty, or thick/colored sputum.

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), MAO inhibitors/linezolid/methylene blue (risk of serious reactions if dextromethorphan is present), serotonergic medicines such as SSRIs/SNRIs/triptans (risk of serotonin syndrome if dextromethorphan is present), sedating antihistamines, opioids, benzodiazepines

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
