Overview
Salbutamol (as Salbutamol Sulphate) 2.5 mg per 2.5 ml respule (1 mg/ml)
Uses & Benefits
Relief of bronchospasm in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) including wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness; prevention/relief of exercise-induced bronchospasm (as advised).
How It Works
Salbutamol is a selective beta-2 adrenergic agonist. It relaxes smooth muscles in the airways, leading to bronchodilation and improved airflow, providing rapid relief from wheezing and breathlessness.
Directions for Use
For inhalation use only via nebulizer as prescribed by a doctor. Twist open the respule and pour the entire contents into the nebulizer chamber; use immediately after opening. Usually can be used with or without food; follow prescribed frequency and do not exceed recommended dose. Do not swallow or inject.
Schedule H: use only on prescription. Not for sudden severe asthma attack without medical supervision; seek urgent care if symptoms worsen or relief is inadequate. Use with caution in heart disease/arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, seizure disorders. May cause hypokalemia; risk increases with high doses or with diuretics/steroids/xanthines. Overuse may worsen asthma control—review treatment if needing frequent doses. If allergic to salbutamol or similar medicines, avoid.

Drug Interactions
Non-selective beta-blockers (e.g., propranolol) may reduce effect and provoke bronchospasm; diuretics, corticosteroids and xanthines (e.g., theophylline) increase risk of hypokalemia; digoxin levels may decrease; MAO inhibitors/tricyclic antidepressants may increase cardiovascular effects; other sympathomimetics may increase side effects.
Storage Instructions
Store below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep respules in original pack until use. Do not use if solution is discoloured; discard any opened/unused solution immediately after use.
