Cefi V 200

Cefixime 200 mg (tablet/capsule)

Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, bronchitis), ear infections (otitis media), urinary tract infections, and uncomplicated typhoid fever (enteric fever) as prescribed.

Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It kills bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. It works only against bacterial infections, not viral illnesses.

Take by mouth exactly as prescribed by the doctor, usually once or twice daily. Can be taken with or without food (take with food if it upsets the stomach). Swallow whole with water and complete the full course even if you feel better.

Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion, headache, dizziness, skin rash, itching, elevated liver enzymes

Use only for bacterial infections; do not self-medicate. Inform your doctor if you have allergy to cephalosporins/penicillins or history of severe allergic reactions. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed) and in patients with colitis/antibiotic-associated diarrhoea; seek care for severe or bloody diarrhoea. May rarely cause severe skin reactions or anaphylaxis—stop and seek urgent help if rash, swelling, or breathing difficulty occurs.

Warfarin/other anticoagulants (may increase bleeding risk/INR), Probenecid (may increase cefixime levels), Live oral typhoid vaccine (reduced vaccine effect), Other nephrotoxic drugs (use caution)

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from moisture and direct light. Keep in original pack and out of reach of children.
