Avoid other CNS depressants (including opioids) due to risk of severe sedation/respiratory depression. May increase suicidal thoughts/behavior in some patients; monitor. Use only on prescription.

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (opioids, sedative antihistamines, antipsychotics) increase sedation/respiratory depression; CYP2C19 inhibitors (e.g., omeprazole, fluconazole, fluvoxamine) may increase active metabolite levels; enzyme inducers (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, rifampicin) may reduce effect; valproate may increase sedation; cannabis may increase drowsiness
